We all know them. We all hate them. They are at our shows. They wear Nike basketball shorts. They love the B9 board. They are... SEXIST HARDCORE BROS.

punchdrunkpunk-deactivated20121 asked: First, ace blog. Second, you made me realize my boyfriend is a sexist hxc bro. Let's just see how he handles himself when I decide to get a little sassy next time. ;)

Glad this blog helped you realize all that, but if he is a sexist hardcore bro, you should kick him to the curb!

Sorry. This mod has been busy IRL and with aiding in the promotion and organization of Walk for Choice Los Angeles.

Plus no one’s been submitting!

Get to it, followers!

Anonymous asked: Rape Revenge has a song called "More Mosh, Less Macho". Do you think that moshing is inherently macho, or can it be done without hardcorebro ruining everything?

Firstly, I love Rape Revenge.

To address your question, I think that moshing can happen without being macho, but for the most part, all the moshing I’ve seen is just testosterone filled man-rage. I think in order for it to be less macho, everyone has to be aware of their surroundings and the comfort level of the people around them. Maybe that takes away the “fuck shit up” part of moshing that some people like so much. I don’t really see the fun in hurting other people who are just trying to have fun.

ssounds-deactivated20110514 asked: I completely agree with your response to anonymous'' statement about "sluts"...

The statement in your response that had me thinking was "Why is it, do you think, that women are shamed for promiscuity and men are high-fived?"

As a man I see other males questioning my decisions to not lead towards promiscuity. I think that it should be made clear that a lot of what you were talking about works the opposite way if you look at it a little bit closer.

PS
your blog is super cool

I see what you’re saying, but as a man I hope you would remember that being shamed for NOT being promiscuous, which calls your masculinity into question, is not usually as damaging as being a woman and being shamed for your promiscuity. Some examples include being berated in court for your sexual history and watching your rapist walk free, being denied abortions in some places because the primary issue for those who oppose it is embedded in slut-shaming, and other justifying non-consensual sex with you based on your ‘sluttiness.’

An interesting point to this is the stigma against general femininity. In our culture femininity in any form is seen as weak, be it in the form of women or ‘girly men.’ So when you look at the big picture you could attribute your pressure to be sexual as a man yet another casualty of misogyny.
